Call me soft but I really dig when rappers do love songs or show their sensitive sides. Who would have thought that when L.L. Cool J wrote “I Need Love”, that songs like that would become standard in 2009? I asked J.J. Malone to produce this one because he was engaged at the time and blatantly in love so I knew he could deliver. He literally grabbed a record, chopped the sample, played some keys and it was done. However, the song wasn't “completed” until a year later because I wasn't happy with the verses or the hook. I asked my friend Hayley May to come up with a hook and she literally saved the song with what she wrote. The ladies love this one and the men love it because their ladies do. That's a win-win!
